Suspicious Synchronar at ebay

Post26 Nov 2006, 06:29

HI. Well here I go again trying to correct some history.A person has a Synchronar(actualy it is a Sunwatch with a faulty Synchronar band) at ebay. This person must have a fair knowlege of what they have because of the way it is priced.I have emailed the seller and still awaiting a reply.

My Concern(although I might be alone on this) is that if I let this go it will just continue and continue. Then it would take several more years to correct if I don't react now.
What,s wrong with the watch at ebay?
1.The description says vintage 70,s---sorry but I told him the flat top(no groove) was not made until 1981.
2. The instruction booklet is for a MK II from pre "77" unlike the MK III with PM indicator shown.
3. The description calls it a Ragen Synchronar---how could that be if it is a MK III and has the flat top? It was made by Riehl Time Corp.Note the box has a Riehl Tag.
4.The gold trim gift box is for a Synchronar(bar down the center) Gold plate or Solid Gold. Not a SW-SS with a Synchronar type band.
5.To top all this off the Band that was never used for a SW or Synchronar either,it is not wide enough at the lugs.It is one of a whole box of remaining stock my father purchased from the maker a few years back. They were to be fixed with the proper width piece installed at the joining to the case.

Conclusion. This must be an offspring of one of my brothers auctions or merchandise that was stolen from my father in 2004 before he passed.

Opinions???

Aha...that link helps, thanks richard_uk. I'm pretty certain the seller chicagogoody is no dodgy dealer. I've bought a Lip LED from him before, and had no problems. You wont get anything cheap from him, but he does have some good pieces.

As for the conflicting information; all I can suggst is that their research on the Synchronar is not as accurate as your knowledge Howard, and perhaps the bracelet has been changed at some time. Whether the seller, or someone before him, changed the bracelet, who knows.
The other day, my computer beat me at chess. It was rubbish at kick boxing though.

Yes thanks Mr T,sorry I had no link seer? Last time I tried a link from ebay it did't work(I failed to find the link to provide a link).Anyway usually it is a simple matter of typeing in 10 letters- SYNCHRONAR and then hit search.Usually there is few or none for sale so it,s only one page. All critisism aside it still is a neat watch, even has the ability to keep the seconds count lit for up to(59 sec)the following min,but I think the label should be better and I tell my own brother the same thing.I am not directly acusing anybody specific of any wrong doing and yes there is a chance the seller just has limeted knowledge of what he has.His feedback is great .It seems he usually buys more than sells.I obviously am proud to see one for sale from a different generation that works. But darnet we should call apples apples and oranges oranges.

Side note: Although the Synchronar is known to be the one with heavy high quality band and stainless Shroud/housing/encasement with divider bar, I wore a flat top SW in the 80,s and many time,s people would approach asking me if that was a TV screen on top.
