supposed "girard perregaux led" watch

Post02 Sep 2007, 10:01

Hi all,
take a look at this "supposed" GP on ebay (Item number: 190148144799) and let me know your thinking....
In my opinion it's a super fake...
If this should be the case it's strange that comes from a seller that i consider reliable...

for a number of reasons:
1. never heard about a GP Led watch (neither in the GP web site) out of the casquette
2. never seen (as by my personal experience) a GP logo as the one shown in the watch
3. given that also the seller (see the comments) makes comment about the fact that someone may consider it a fake why not putting a photo of the mechanism?
these are my doubts....

IIRC, exactly this watch was dicussed a few moths ago (couldn't find it, the search fuction returns NOTHING for "GP", and very little for girard or perregaux or casquette - I can't believe there are NO threads about one of the most collectible LED watches - and most beautiful IMHO ;-) )
The logo looks funny, and I also have never heard of a GP LED watch other than the casquette (but this means nothing, there are a lot of things I haven't heard of ;-) ).

Like Rewolf, I believe this model watch was discussed a number of months ago. Don't remember much else of the discussion - maybe Ed can try to find the old thread if there was one??

:-? ...looks to be the back off a GP analog. The "G" on the clasp is entirely different from that in the "logo" on the bezel(looks like the classic Gruen "G", squarish and thick). The logo on the bezel appears to be a stamped deal, whereas most Gp's have a consistent depth and width of line to the logo, like an engraving. The setting button on a GP driver has a nice raised ring around the setting button, with only the center portion pushable. This piece just looks too low in quality to be taken seriously. Looks like an Eastman(Ross case) if I was hazarding a guess.

I tried bidding to see if I could answer this question...the seller has blocked my business.
