Ok, maybe this is a silly question, but I was curious about the rationale behind the value of this non-working Hamilton QED which is currently up to almost a grand on the bay:

Yes, the case is in very nice condition (although it's hard to tell precisely with flattering incandescent lighting), and I have seen circumstances where pieces in exceptional condition command prices way above the norm, but is that the case here? How much of the price inflation is due to condition and how much is due to psychology / eBay fever.
Just out of curiosity, what would you say this piece is really "worth"? Any guesses?
