We don't have custom's charges, so the insurance and customs declaration are not an issue.

You don't know how lucky you are, get hit with customs and you can also expect tax and handling charges both from customs and the carrier to be added.

Are there no import duties, taxes or other charges at all to the USA?

Wanted to ask the same. Paradise, if it's true.
We pay 19% on everything over 22€ - if the customs gets hold of it; if not, you are legally obligated to go to the next customs office (can be 50km away) and declare it. I don't know if anyone has ever done that, maybe the customs officers would LTAO if somone shows up and says "I recieved this 500€ watch by mail and was not charged any import tax, may I please do this now?"

Not for used items anyway. Perhaps there is on a few new items, very expensive computer equiptment for example. I'm not sure but so far the watch collecting community is not on the taxman's radar. :-D
