Agree with all of this.
The SS version is much nicer (I don't 'do' gold watches anyway but that is beside the point....) This gold one is good for a working module and perhaps other parts. But if you're going to spend this kind of money you want a watch that works AND looks nice, right?
Like Patrick I'm a new collector who doesn't allocate big bucks to digital watches (OK, it is a slippery slope and I have started spending money on the occasional one ....

) I did like the look and heritage of the 0624 but really didn't have a good handle on value / condition / parts. So I spent some months watching all of the 0624s I could find to see what they were selling for. A lot of them seem to get BINed in the shadows

But the current price on a Stainless Steel 0624 seems to be in the $150 to $250 band. This gets you a used (not beaten-up) watch, declared as and shown working. Obviously physical condition, quality of the listing photos, apparent credibility of the 'declared as working' statement will place it at the upper or lower ends. A Mint one shown not-working went for similar money - but then you need to price in the risk that the module might have had issues if a battery had been left in (or if it had not been sold back in the day for a reason). Boxes, bits of paper and stuff? - dunno, I only collect watches
After all this DD, I did spot one, just listed, needing a bit of work but at a decent price. I thought about it for an hour and then pulled the trigger. So now I've got me an 0624. I'll post some pictures of the clean-up when I get round to it. Which makes five finished 1970s Seikos for me now. Plus three work in progress and two awaiting disposal.
Very slippery slope.
