Strange Pulsar LED's On eBay?

Post24 Oct 2012, 17:20

If you look at the two Pulsar LED's within this lot you can see that they have had an extra command and set button added, seems really strange, I figure they must have been fitted with another module but why would someone do this? Weird!

Interesting find Mick, but whoever did that to those Pulsars is... A "criminal". Probably the man who repaired it considered that option as a last resort to keep those watches alive back when the Service Centers closed down, as it wasn't easy to find spare modules anymore.
But ruining that beautiful P3 and P4 with those additional buttons to fit another module is a sacrilege, IMHO.
I wonder if it's possible to revert the cases back to their original condition and fit proper Pulsar modules back in them?

But why? There are plenty of cases, it's good glass and movements that are scarce.

True, I didn't think about that. From what it seems, the glasses are at least salvageable. They don't seem to be heavily scratched, so at least their glasses can be good for spare parts.

Now your thinking cap is on straight. Save the glass -maybe. Poor cases, the pain they endured. Actually kind of funny(to me) that someone went to that trouble....would have been easier to Frankenstein almost any circuit board to the Pulsar chassis on the Date COmmand than all that button trouble.

I wonder how they made the module fit in the P3, maybe that's why it doesn't contain one, maybe never got past the adding buttons stage, for a start if the module was properly centred I can't think of a module that the buttons would reach :-?
