BEWARE IF YOU COLLECT JUMPHOURS!!! wwatch_es & modernwat

Post20 Feb 2008, 00:10

This post does not give me pleasure but I HATE cheaters!!!

Beware of MODERN probably Chinese NON-JUMPING DIRECT READERS sold by "wwatch_es" and "modernwatches" as VINTAGE 1970's JUMP HOURS
This is strange because the seller has been selling collectible original Amida Digitrends for "years".

I have informed the seller about the incorrectness but he did not "agree" with my reasoning ;-) .
after my email he also removed (for some time) the picture of the crappy movement which revealed the truth. it appeared again in one of the last auctions.

the sad part is that more than a dozen of these watches have been sold ranging from 80 to 300$ !!!!!
some unaware buyers will be shocked one day when they will have their watch serviced.

Humm, that does look like a crap movement. Reminds me of the "Galaxy" and "Cosmos" watches being sold by some on(and off) ebay.Retraction: two ebay sellers have had their names removed from this post after further discussion with them They actually talk up the fact that the display doesn't "jump", but instead is smooth and continuous. Fools - they don't understand that the "jump" is necessary, otherwise you sometimes can't tell what hour it is..at least not easily. I've bought a lot of items off modernwatches - generally very nice. Although, he has been selling some"Spaceman" LCDs marked Limit International. They are nice watches, but the two lower buttons were mis-installed - the left protruding button starts you into the setting sequence....and why on earth would you want to press a setting "dimple" to check the date or seconds.  Fortunately, it was easy enough to press both buttons out and re-install them - for me. Bad news for the collector who doesn't want to play around with their watch at that level. :x

Thanks for bringing this to our members attention Pioter(azimuth_pl). 8-)

note: "wwatch_es" is now "digitalread"

well, the Cosmos and Galaxy are identical and they also have been sold (check links) - these are identical modern watches but branded differently.

these watches do not jump because they are fitted with standard movements used in analog watches - the jump function requires a small technical modification but makes the production more complicated and thus more expensive. you can buy a real nice Chinese jumphour made in an artdeco hunters case by Alpha for 50$ but they are not that flashy as these Cosmos and Galaxy nonjumpers.

update:
the Limit International or Spacesonic LCD seemed to be an original Spaceman Catena however as Ed revealed these are all modern fakes with Chinese module.
I'm amazed that Javier is still in business.
and I also see that sharing the truth on this forum results in being blocked by Javier from bidding in his other auctions

Wow I can't believe that he is still in business after this either. It upsets me to see stuff like this happen, I had a feeling they were all fakes.
