Bulova Drivers watch :-(

Post30 Oct 2010, 18:36

Well my little collection is increasing with this my latest aquasition for £90.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 2761.l1259

I had one of these in gold about 5 years ago but gold doesn't suit me so i sold it.

I always preferred them in stainless and the case and bracelet look to be in fantastic condition on this one and hopefully it will work...if not what am i looking at paying for a new module?

Also what batteries will this take?

Have I payed over the odds? I just worked on the assumption that at least if i start with a bracelet and case in really good condition then thats half the battle won!!!

Eh god!

Check the bird related previous sales and the Novus with the date stamp on the sellers completed listings, ring any bells, seller from Scotland perhaps?

I would be very surprised if it works and new modules are not easy to find for that particular model - Sorry for the downer.

I don't have the watch but 'crazywatches' state that it's the 393's that you need.

I thought all the MENS drivers took 357 cells through two battery hatches) and the LADIES models take 393 cells (strap and bangle models, either one or two battery hatches). Which one do you actually have? Mens case measures about 40mm by 30mm, Ladies models are around 2/3 of this. I know the sellers listing said GENTS but with that tw*t (rhymes with "what") you can never be sure.

I have LOTS of information on that watch. First, it is a "coffin case", so it uses two # 393 batteries, under that single battery hatch.

But that particular watch - wow, really sorry you bought it. You see, pigeon(John/Gary/Ritchie/Isobel Gibb) first bought a module for it off me. Then he claimed it didn't work and sent all to me. Turns out he wasn't noticing that the buttons both have a sticking issue, generally caused by small blows to the side or from someone somehow marring them on the inside. Virtually impossible to rectify, and the buttons have a different external "hub" size than any of BUlova's other watches, so where to get donor buttons. I told him the same and he told me he wanted his money back. So, I refunded the money, kept the module and sent it back to him with the bottom off since it was going to need to be worked on. He wrote me a nasty-gram for sending it back that way(all parts were in his original plastic shipping container.) So, you bought a watch that wasn't shown working(first mistake), assuming it would be easy to get guts for(incorrect, extremely rare, not like your Polara), in a case that has more issues than a crack whore. And that my friend, is part of the real world cost of acquisition. :x

Well Ed...

Thats certainly put me straight!!

But bear in mind we're not ALL watch experts like you and I for one like to trust people if I can.....

obviously that has now backfired on me and Im a bit upset about it.

Well Im going to send that info on to Mr Gibb and start a claim via Paypal as thats bang out of order!!

I shall let you know how i get on.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The glass is worth maybe $80+(due to it's rarer size) and the band is a beauty(but what to put it on?). As your knowledge increases you will make better selections, based on parts availability in worst case scenarios. "Orphan"(little to no sibling watches) modules, cases and bands are the hardest to pull together. Conversely, they have the highest value and are the most sought out.. But the pigeon really just pooped on you. Now that I have personal knowledge of him intentionally selling a loser like that and claiming to have no knowledge of it's issues, I feel a lot better about ejecting him,

Cheers Ed..

The bloke is an utter scum conman!!

He is basically now trying to taunt me via email telling me tough as he sold the watch to me as "none working" notice the spelling mistake!!

he put "none working" on the paypal invoice but as none working doesnt mean anything then hopefully my case with Paypal will stand!!

Im currently on hold waiting to speak to my Credit Card company about stopping the payment!

I know the little shit is still on this forum and will be reading this!!

Any member of the DWF.CC forum please feel free to link to this topic.

We need to stop people like him ripping off members of the watch collecting community!!
