All this talk about Polarisers.....

Something not quite right about this one.....

180772634114

Isn't it supposed to have nice thin digits and a light grey background? Can anyone see the edge of the, er, expertly fitted slab of polariser in the second photo? Perhaps thats why the backlight is a little dim..... 8-)

I contacted the seller, pointed out the issue and armed with this information he comfortingly explained that 'he knows nothing about these sorts of watches' but his self-proclaimed inexpertise did however permit him to declare that it looks to him to be in good condition and fully working. So, that's all right then. :~#

Considering it doesn't show from the front, it could just be light artifact from case edge, the step on the back of the matrix or the backplane (reflective piece behind matrix). The sellers doesn't seem to put much effort into their sales, so it is doubtful they would have toyed with the insides like that, to make a tiny sale.

The characters look correct, I have the exact same model I'm using for comparison. Part of the problem is they took a photo at a closeness few would ever view their watch at. At that distnce you might be catching a reflection of the edge of their photo tent. WHo knows?

Indeed, who knows. I guess the person who buys it will find out.

And yes I doubt this guy would have fiddled with it, think its probably just passing through his hands.

So there are always question marks and risks buying these old watches. From reading on this forum even the NOS ones have issues sometimes. I wholeheartedly follow the advice of, where there are question marks, contacting the seller and then making a judgement. Most sellers, even with brief descriptions and limited photographic facilities will take a moment to try and answer specific questions or concerns like this. A non-answer or a give-a-sh*t answer usually tells me what I need to know ;-)
