Wow,

That watch seems cheap, but I know little of it. Are you a member of that forum Kasper?

Just curious.

I have a question. On the collector's value scale doesn't the...

- Benrus LED (Stainless steel)
- Litronix LED (Stainless steel)
- Hammilton LED (Stainless steel)
- Marcel LED (Stainless steel)

Are all the above watches pretty much equal value wise(assuming to be in the same condition) as this "Wittnauer LED Polara" for sale?

I really do not know a lot about LED watches, I am more familiar with the 70's LCDs.

Anyway,

Ok, it was me.

I tried to make this picture look like a 1970's add for Wittnauer Polara. I liked the green background, and IO thought it was a nice complimentary color scheme.

Anyway,

Yes, I bought this watch for the reasonable price of $45.00 + shipping. The seller was a Gem of a man, and was very expediant in his shipping. Upon opening the package, I noticed that this Wittnauer Polara model has a relatively smallish case, but unique crystal shape. It looks like a crying face wide open. All Stainless Steel, some slight scratches on the bezel, but very nice indeed.

Also, judging from a comparison to my CompuChron the quality of the case/band of the Wittnauer is better. The pusher buttons are smoother, and better engineered.

That watch STILL sells for those prices, but his is a far cry from even "nice". But well worth it for the module alone - pitch the case unless you want it for a daily wear. His loses $100 for no logo on the glass(which we would assume would be virtaully flawless if the logo were intact) and he loses another $50-100 for condition of the case and band. And a MInt one at $400 would also have a box - at least the last one I sold did(Nov./Dec/'11, $400).

Hi,

I would have never seen this watch at all if Kasper did not point it out. I saw that it was within my price range ($45 USD), and so I asked about it. Really that is all.

I have a question to all you guys. Can this module be transplanted from this Polora to another model Polora? Like lets say a much nicer gold-tone with a nicer case and band? Just curious, because Ed said that the price of this watch was worth it just for the module.

Anyway, thank you all.

It contains a standard 29mm Hughes module which you can fit to any other watch using that diameter and button setting.
Other Polaras usually use the 25mm module

Congrats retrowrist - you did good. Even if you don't upgrade it to a Gold version it's still a nice daily wearer as is.

Thank you guys.

This watch is now officially the best in my collection (Shows how lame I am). But hey, I may get lucky and afford a NOS gold-tone Wittnaur someday. The real important thing for me is to learn about the watches, and buy taking them apart and looking over the design, circuitry, and material used in constructing these unique watches I learn a little about the 70's. I like these old watches because it reflects the technology that was being used. What I really like about vintage products of the 1960's and 70's is the way we went about marketing them. So I like looking for old ads from publishing's that advertized watches and jewelry. Really funny ads sometimes.

Anyway.
