: ALL TIME MUST HAVE LED..whats yours?

Post16 May 2009, 17:18

Top 1........Yikes.

Out of the watches I own and at this moment in time I am going to say the Pulsar green LED is the favorite although if I was asked the same question tomorrow I would probably give a different answer.

From all the other watches in the world? Double Yikes!!

Obvious answer would be the P1, but I would also like one of the 'pop ups' either a Benrus or Timex who I think also made one (am I right?) The Pulsar pulse in solid gold, a solid gold Synchronar, the Nepro XJ-S........... Too many

Already starting to change my mind on the first answer, I have an Alfratronic solar power.......Ummm ~:( ~:(

Any driver's watch I don't already have....though I fear I have exhausted that category.

Pulsar Green(have)
Green Sears oval face(have)
Benrus pop-up(have)
Synchronar(have,few)
Modulus Driver(my avatar watch) - have both stainless and gold.
Classic Concord in 18k(have) and its stainless twin(have)

Obviously as a dealer/repairer I have at least one of each of the classic must-haves - TC1, TC2 P2,P3,Pulsar Classic, Sport, Big Time,Calc......I think the short list above is a more eclectic group.

Hey Funkyguy' told you it wasn't possible - Ed named even more than me

If I connected the watch bands and worn them around my waist could I technically claim them as one watch :?:

Might still have to put weight on even at that M:)W:)M

One watch, only one watch  your a bad man Funkyguy.... !@@!

Good news FGFL - I generally don't believe in holding duplicates. Anything beyond one really nice example is destined to become stock....meaning it will someday grace someone else's collection.

I'm almost positive I have one of the Mido#2s to sell. I'll check. That last style(top right) - wow, that's a must have, but nobody seems to know of one. :-(

I didn't list the P1 - I have no real interest in owning one. Hard to explain, just doesn't intrigue me. I guess part of it is I like owning pieces I can wear without fearing my every movement.

bucko

ok ok i guess your right.lol
its not really possible to reduce a collection down to ONE watch.
so i must amend this idea to the ;
Most irriplaceable! led watch. / unique !
mine is the avatar pic(l.e.d.co.inc.)

retroleds
"mido syle 2"
"mido style number 2 ..now your showing off.lol
i never evan seen a pic of one! .lol( outside the mido advert)
(you will be inundated with offers.mines on the way.lol)

retroleds
"P1"
i agree,to be honest i have no interest in any pulsar model.
i except there qaulity and place in led watch history,
but they leave me cold, and like london buses
"if you miss one, there be another one along soon"

sorry pulsar fans..lol

I think this page with the Timex pop-up suggestion is the cause of this confusion....that is a standard Benrus pop-up. They are not marked Benrus, which leads to the confusion. http://www.opgenoorth.de/mywatches/

Compare to pictures(including bottom) at http://www.ledwatches.net/photo-pages/benrus5.htm

The "Wells" watch is a similar piece of confusion, also from Benrus. It was actually a Wells-Benrus watch, with a Texas Instrument's module. After two men's models and one ladies, they went with just Benrus. But frequently only marked on the screen. *Benrus bought Wells, a small jewelry manufacturer, a few years before the LED era.

...not saying there might not be a Timex pop-up out there in some engineer's estate.

I would not have been able to tell you where the idea that Timex made a 'pop up' came from but now that I have viewed the page from your link I would say that you are correct - I did have a browse through that site some time ago and no doubt it would of stuck in my mind.

I watch was sold recently on eBay with no makers name but I think it was a Wells-Benrus, item number 360153726498, right\wrong?

It IS a Wells, but missing the overlay for the front of the bezel. Here's what they should look like.

Hmmm, P1... Maybe for value, otherwise boring watch - unless it comes with the "1st generation" board (which is quite unlikely). However, the P1....value value value, but nothing you'd ever wear i think...

On my personal list I'd say an excellent Aquadive would be on #1...

But I'd be willing to swap that for a "square case" tungsten Rado (Okay i have one but badly flawed).

Well actually it's impossible to just list one. Okay that benrus pop-up was on my list but somehow it lost it's appeal for me.

An Aitron Radio watch would also be cool as it's probably the oldest "gadget" watch ever (not counting calculators). Unfortunately like 99% or the aitron come without the watch.

Well there are quite a few others I would like to have, but i think if it had to just be one it would be an aquadive which is #1 on my "most wanted" list. Just as i like the idea to not take off your LED watch while showering or washing hands (I don't really dive that often). Think practical, gift coffins!

Never heard of an Aquadive ! I googled it and found only one reference:

http://www.digitalwatches.de/LED_Uhren/LED_Aquadive.htm

Nice watch ! Must be super rare.

I'm quite partial to the HP-01. I think that's my 'dream' watch at the moment.

I think the size is deceptive. A Mido, an Omega Constellation LED and the Benrus are all the same width - 37mm. The Benrus screen looks small when popped up, but the display virtually fills it from edge to edge.
