Hi all

Post06 Aug 2009, 00:23

Hey all,

My name is Josh I'm 23, and I live in Texas. I just moved out on my own (finally!) :-D into an apartment and needed a watch. (*among other things)

My Father gave me his old CompuChron digital watch from the 70's. It's stainless steel silver with the red LED display without the colon between the hour/min. He does not like wearing watches and doubted he would wear this one again. He has alot of other newer watches anyway and knew I would love it since I love all 70's/80's electronics and computers.

I promptly went to RadioShack and had batteries put in it. It worked immediatly to my delight. :) Funny enough the time was only 20 mins off of the actual time it should have been!!! Anywho, the guy at RadioShack located the DWF page while wondering about the watch and I just located the forum from home.

When I was younger (12 maybe) I had a similar black watch from some other company from about the same time, however it was a less expensive (and nice) watch compared to this one I have now.

Hoping to hear from ya'll!!

Josh

Hi Josh, Welcome to the forum you will find it a great place for help and advise!

If you want to find your watches you could try checking out the photographs on this site -

http://www.ledwatches.net/index.html

Or check out the photo gallery here -

http://www.dwf.nu/Gallery/

A few black watches where produced, Commodore & Sinclair spring to mind or could it be this one?

http://www.ledwatches.net/photo-pages/exelar4.htm

If you catch the bug and fancy another (it happens!) you could try Ed's site here -

http://www.retroleds.com/index.htm

There are loads of great watches for sale and better than taking your chances with the rubbish on eBay!

Also try the links at the top of the home page, have a browse through there's load to see!

BTW: Ed is the forum owner.

Josh - welcome! You couldn't have inherited a better digital watch for starting out - simple, reliable and still fairly easy to find another movement for if it dies.(Sorry for being a minor drag...I work in the triage end of the biz so I have a bit of gallow humor clinging to me).

Mick, you could be a TV pitchman  ...I hear the ShamWow guy is having legal problems...your chance to move in. 8-) But seriously, thanks for the plug...but don't forget the other good sellers out there - Majestyk, PlanetLED Joeywaycool, Watchismo, Barbie9, TresrHntr. and for moderns our friends at LEDwatchstop.com.

Nice to see the activity going on, even with the crap economy and the crazy days of late summer upon many of us. ~:(

Mick, now that Billy Mays is no longer with us I could see you could move into that area too. ;-)

Hey ya'll,

Thanks for the greetings! :-)

I've been searching for my watch and can't seem to find the actual model that I have. There does not seem to be a model number anywhere on it either.

Maybe if I take a picture of it one of ya'll can identify it...

Glad I found this forum!!

Josh :-D
