: Synchronar MkIII top needed

varta v80's are the cells you need. they shouldn't be too hard to find. you will need solder tabs on them. however, the mkIII synch has exposed wire bonds on the chip which will probably pull out as you open it. the ones i have seen have a "snotty" sticky potting material that makes them very difficult to open safely. also, if the blade went thru the display area it could have damaged the display. if you want a synch to rebuild you are better off with a mkI/II. just my observation on the ones i have rebuilt. peter

I thought they might be exposed bonds
I have nothing to loose at this point, so I am still going to give it a try...If all fails, SASM will be my next choice.
Here is what the mess looks like now:

I found a top for you. It is not new but you can have it for free.
The display on your watch says it all: Do yourself a favour and do not waste any time with this module. It´s for sure beyond repair - no chance!

Thanks Hanno!
I have been weighing all options for module replacement, and I believe/hope you will be seeing my watch soon ;-)
I have already a new top on its way, so I will contact you about sending off the whole watch/parts here shortly.
Thanks for your response, I'm looking forward to doing business soon!
