The module still looks rather clean. Maybe a little corrosion on the negative (-) battery contact. You could try to clean this with a glass fibre pen ot the like.

Are you sure the batteries you tested with were ok? It sometimes happens that "new" batteries are actually old and self-discharged, esp. if you buy in them small shops.
If you can't verify for sure that the batteries are ok, I'd try other ones before going for a replacement module.

Was the watch still working 10 years ago before your husband took the batteries out and mothballed it? If yes, then there's a good chance that it still works and it's only a contact problem or the batteries.

Well deserved, because he did not play fair: he camouflaged himself with full stops ;-). If the missing capitals hadn't put me off, maybe I'd even have tried to flirt with the new "lady"

No way! That is one persistent m.f. ! I was fooled too by the almost normal punctuation and lack of all-caps...

Maybe the next move will be a change of location, stand by for 'Le Pigeon', 'Herr Pigeon', 'duif', 'Columba' or 'Dummkopf' to make an appearance.

OH LOOKY! EBAY ITEM 270652915458 NOW MIRACULOUSLY IN FULL WORKING ORDER BUT SAME OLD 2007 PHOTOS.

One does wonder if some poor devil is going to receive a non working watch and the "it was working when it left me, but it is 30 years old and could fail at any time" explanation so beloved of dodgy Ebay sellers.
