EPSA - Opticom Stem sets and telling DSM from LCD

Post20 Dec 2006, 17:03

I'm a bit perplexed - a number of people seem to think that every Epsa stem set module is DSM(Dynamic Scattering Matrix), others think only the ones with light numbers against black background are such? I am under the distinct impression that ONLY the ones with the darker background are DSM - the others are just nice, early LCDs(I've worked on a number of the latter, none of the former).
Thoughts anyone?

You are quite right about the dark background with silver/grey numerals being the only DSM display (found in the Epsa-Optel & SGT modules). They are a pain to read in bright light and were soon replaced with early field effect (black numerals on grey ground) displays. I'm sitting here glaring at a SGT produced module that has an inverter problem- does anyone have a circuit diagram for the SGT one (not the same as the original Epsa-Optel model)?
