Found this looking through some old stuff. Forgot I had it. Now I have to go get a battery and see if it works...

Woohoo! Popped a battery in and the ol' gal sprung right back to life. The module is dated 11/77. The display is hours+minutes -> month+day -> running seconds. The lower button is a backlight, which still works. The display contrast isn't all that great. I don't know if that's because it's old or if that's how it always was. Does anyone know if these old LCD's lose contrast as a result of aging?

sometimes you can clean the zebra strips and get better contrast.
esp if contrast is irregular between segments.

Thanks, the contrast is pretty regular but it's probably a good idea to clean all the connections. Is there a technique to cleaning the zebras without leaving residual particles from cloths, etc?
