Restoring a Seiko A159 5009 G

Post13 May 2008, 16:36

Hi,
I recently acquired a box of OEM parts from a colleague of mine. This friend was a watch repair man many years ago and he unloaded all these parts to me. Most of the parts are LED but he gave me a few LCD parts too including modules, replacement crystals, buttons, terminals, gaskets, lcds, lcd polarized film, etc... Included is a watch that must have come in for restoration but never made it out. The watch is a Seiko A159-5009 G. I have all the parts to rebuild this watch except one, the module. I have a new (crystal) dial, all new screws, gaskets, buttons, band, piezo speaker, and all of them are still wrapped in the blue Seiko wrappers. I may have the module parts but Im better at disassembling modules, fixing them, and reassembling them than I am building one from boxes of parts.
Would someone be kind enough to show pics of their A159-5009 G module?
Also, can someone tell me what if any watches shares this module and are these modules or watches hard to find? Im a Casio guy and completely Seiko ignorant, so thanks in advance for your help. Id love to see pics of the module.

Thank You,
rws

Not many Seiko (and probably even less Casio) collectors here. Perhaps more luck on the PCF?

Actually, I am a regular over there and I have the same question posted there. When I saw some Seiko threads here I thought I would ask here too. As a matter of fact, the thread immediately before mine is about restoring one of these.

I dont remember asking any Casio questions. I meant, since I really only know Casios, maybe someone here can shed light on my question regarding a Seiko. Ill give it some more time.

Thanks

Hi RWS.
Have you seen this thread ?

http://pocketcalculatorshow.com/eve/for ... 2810643141

This guy states he has a spare a159 4019 module. They appear to be exactly the same as the a159-5009 module. Could be worth contacting him.

Rgds,
Andrew.

Thank You,

Yes I have seen that thread. I have been talking with him about this too privately. He educated me on Seiko a little and explained that the A159 is the module#. Ill know what to look for now, and maybe Ill find a similar watch to this on eBay one day. Now Ill just be patient. Thanks for the link.
