They call me LEDLuvr, but I'm an LCD lover too. Glad to see you have at least 1 LCD in your colllection F.G. :-)
Sorry I can't help with any info on the background of that watch.
But I love the fact that it says "Quartz Solid State" on the case.
That was a BFD back in the day - it's a hoot to see how they paraded it so prominenty back when LCD watches were new.

Looks like it's real Gold plate and not gold-tone..... :?:

Hi F.G.,
I have a good amount of LCD watches. :-) But here are my favorites, all Seiko's. The A159- Series isn't the most 'exotic' my any means, but it sure is practical and very comfy to wear, so I use them as daily-wearers often. In the G-757 group photo, I own #1, #2, and #4. I'm still on the hunt for an affordable #3, the actual Octopussy model. One just went on ebay for $700 USD!
Somehow, I don't think any of these will qualify as "Funky"

Love the M159-5039, I think it the only Seiko Digital that uses a clip on one end of the bracelet and the other end sldes under the case.
The case itself reminds me of a mini O634-5019.
The Mercury I think, is from Mercury Time a New York company or so it says on an LED I have. The logotype is the same.

That's a nice Mercury LCD.
It would have an Optel module inside, just like the Optcom, Segtronic, Jules Jurgensen etc. I would say it's from the early 70s.

All of the cases on the above watches are basically the same, and I think were made by Optel. This case is quite similar, but doesn't have the normal oval glass screen. See here for an example:

A bit bashed up I know but its the only other LCD from Mercury I have seen and also some of the larget digits I have seen in a watch of this era(Im thinking late 70s). Notice it used to be gold and someone loved it that much they re-polished it. The back has mercury New York and the module is Hong Kong. Im not sure the module is working properly as it flicks between date and time. I am not sure if this a feature as when the button is pressed is does show seconds then returns to date and time sequence. Any thoughts
