Casio VDB-100 — liquid on screen

Post02 Mar 2016, 10:34

Image

I've just received this 1991 Casio VDB-100 in pretty much mint condition and perfectly working. There's just one problem, and the image above shows it.

On some angles you can see what appears to be liquid under the screen.

No problem, I thought, I'll just take the module out and clean the back of the crystal and the LCD, job done.

Unfortunately not. The liquid isn't between the crystal and LCD, it's between layers of the crystal itself. I'm guessing that as a touchscreen, there is a plastic layer over top for protection and whatever the liquid is, is between this protective layer and the touchscreen.

From what I can tell, you can't separate these two pieces.

Any tips on how I could get this pristine? Many thanks :)
