Zodiac Holy Grail

Post09 Jun 2016, 14:48

I was lucky enough to add one of my holy grails to my collection. I couldnt have done it without Simones help, so a huge thank you to him.

The watch in question is a 1976/77 Zodiac Astrodigit. In its original box, I think, although possibly not as there is an Astroquartz. Astros close enough anyway. Also with warranty. For me, a dream come true, so, I thought i'd share a couple of pics.

Beautiful !
I've got the same watch, but with a chipped crystal :-(
Kasper kindly cut me a new one, but I still haven't successfully got the mirror finish on the reverse.
Yours looks awesome.

Some watches, simply are not made to last

Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way

Hi Adam,

a wonderful ultra rare watch -Zodiac Astrodigit - using the same ESA 942 711 as the Andre LeMarquand Spaceman/Spacesonic of 1977.
So You may understand now my excitement, when I have found the rarest Spaceman/Spacesonic 8 facets crystal chronograph watch:
http://s827.photobucket.com/user/cybr/m ... q.jpg.html
I really don't know how many Digital Zodiac Astrodigits are available now on the market - since they are very very rare, but I surely know how many Catena LABELED Spacesonic Chronograph with 8 facets crystal are available now - using online references: only 3, including mine and the one presented in Doensen's book:

There is only one digital watch that seem to be rarer that yours and mine - since it is really unique :) :
The Dynamic Scattering Prototype LCD Spacesonic from Watchismo's collection, which seems to be a one piece prototype owned by Watchismo ...:)

Sorry, it was my fault because I was lazy :-( , the URL was not from Watchismo's site but from other site of a high level collector...
If one really want the link from the Watchismo's site...it is...
http://watchismo.blogspot.com/2008/11/s ... ceman.html
And Yes, from what I've read, it seems that the collector behind Watchismo's website, really own that unique Catena's prototype

Funny, I can see two of my pictures on watchismo's site

Since some time i see my own pictures pop up on several sites. Every time they are removed after my complaining.. One of these days i should start watermarking, the least i can do..

However, back to the subject: a fantastic watch that makes me a bit jealous -in a very positive way- (no envy, which is one of the worst human emotions. In my personal opinion :-) )

Zodiac's design team did a very good job in designing a unique case design. Its larger upper part, smaller lower part (both sides of the crystal), its engravings in these parts, but most of all -in my opinion - its large rectangular oval pushers. Really very beautiful. Once more : congrats with this awsome catch, thanks to our Italian friend Simone.
