Seiko H357-5120

Post07 Oct 2016, 17:02

The last one....and the tricky one :fool: : a nos Seiko h357-5120 silver wave with tag from October 1980.
Untouched but with a battery forgotten inside!!
Cleaned the board as usual and now "under test".
The problems are essentially two:

- Missing segments only in A,P and in nameday... seems to be solved (finger crossed) ~:(
- Flashing lcd display after 14-18 of normal use with 3 different batt....i'm trying now a fresh 395, hopefully a good battery will sort it out ~:( ~:( ~:(
At the moment the watch is running well, passed 24h from the last battery changing.
The original damage (battery leakeage) was near the battery protection condencer...so i need a miracle my friend...and a big !@@!

Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way

Very nice!
I've got a Seiko 0634 chrono that ate expensive silver oxide in a week. After bathing the circuit in vinegar, rinse with water and petrol (it was already "broken" anyway) It already runs for a few months already on one battery. (still haven't changed it)
