Citizen 41-9052: The first digi-ana

Post07 Feb 2017, 15:46

This one takes me hours and days of hard job trying to fix it.
Bought in store as not woking for 25 euro in used conditions with marks here and there and.....a lot of dead skin :~#
I was looking for this watch for a long time so i tried a battery but it doesn't lights up...no chance: the watch should be open!
And what i found?Acid, acid and acid again.....As all digi ana watches disassembling operations wasn't easy at all.
Cleaning job did the trick and finally digital parts slowly started to run, before with flashing digits and after some hour with clear and stay on number...but....but....the rainbow effect (hard purple and green) was so bad,so i cut a new front film in order to replace the old one.
I was happy but another problem was there, the analogue parts: hands doesn't advance....
Adam and Kasper told me to use a line free machine to "unlock" hands from hidden dirt....so i bought one from a local store in Milan at 9 euro (very cheapo) that does the job very well.
Now the watch is 100% working as in November 1979

Enjoy

Nice work! That lcd display looks great again.
Often the gear trains of quartzes get blocked with old gummy oil or dirt. The block easily. The gadget you bought did the trick, but the gears might start to bind again in cold weather (even in Milano :grin1: )
Some quartz oil on the end of the axles in the back plate might be enough, or you need to disassemble the movement. (super crappy job)

See the arrows with the letter v, that's where you oil.

Interesting that the driving part of the movement isn't shown on this schematic, rotor doesn't need oil?

Maybe another diagram, the rotor would have two pivots of course and I would oil those.
