Otron released in 1976-7

Post03 Sep 2018, 13:12

Just got this one yesterday in non working conditions at my favourite flea market due a battery leakeage over the batt. connector.A simple watch that has only time, date, chrono split and light.
The bad is the band not sizeble....no links to remove....

Hi guys, just to add further info about this module. I was thinking of having already seen that module before somewhere, but where?? Surfing over the net i found the answer: the Otron module is a very very good clone of the most famous and expensive Omega Cal. 1620. You judge:

The Chrono mode is activated by pressing 3 times the chrono button, like the Omega 1620. Functions are: 1) start-stop 2) split 3) lap 4) spilt-stop
In the chronograph mode 7 arrows (similar to the Omega but not the same) appear and after a split or a lap display, they blink during 7 seconds.

Like the Omega the Otron can show the date instead the seconds (Omega use DATE Otron use DT)

Well in the time keeping mode you can run the chrono and a ST is blinking beside the minute (in the Omega is a "star"). To stop the chrono you have to simply press "stop" and the watch memorize the time that you can see pressing 3 times the chrono button.

PS: the crystal shows the same days layout with an arrow

That's all,you judge ~:(

Good find Simone and well written up. The 1620 is quite a robust module but I wonder if this could be used a replacement module? Although these Otron are pretty scarce too.
