seiko edp ion plating

Post20 Aug 2011, 09:54

Has anyone purchased the black ion plated version?
Its quite difficult to judge the finish on it,its it a blue/black ? with combination brushed /matt/shiny finish?
how does it compare to the s/s version in terms of wear? Will it loose its coating with use?
Is it the same plating as junghans use on the futura /1000?

Haven't purchased one, but hold in my hands at the local jeweller's.
It's black, no blue. Shiny, not matt or brushed (IIRC...).
Can't say anything about durability.

The feed-back in the SeikoCitizenWatchForum is that the black is quite a lot more scratch resistant than the stainless steel version.

Hello Huertecilla, question:
does that seiko-citizen watch forum you mentioned have a section where they discuss vintage LCD's? Can you post a link - I'd like to see what is "the buzz" over there.
Thanks.

Thanks for the link rewolf, I am an old time member there (well, a few years anyway) but I don't visit as much as I used to . It seems that fourm is more focused on Casios rather than Seikos, but I know the interests tend to ebb and flow.

Bit of a strange world imo.

Not much interest in digitals nor in tc quartz. The ´only a digital´ EPD did not fall well there either.
The one is too lowly, the other too high brow.
Leaving rather a lot of middle of the road.
Oh, and ABSOLUTE misconception of the Spring Drive...

Thanks for the link. I know *some* Spanish - you absorb some when you live in Southern California. :-D I'll take a look around their website.

Ok, so you can join the F91-W fan club on the forum then ;-)

There are some ´serious´ collectors of those even. It is hard to understand but appearantly the early Made in Japan ones are sought after. As are versions with a ´rare´ rim or such.
