Could it be that we are at last about to see a range of decent modern day led watches?? These look good to me - anyone got these yet?

I don't like them myself but that's just me. Maybe it's the generic looking case. It's not an LED watch anyway, it's a plasma. That's according to Megalaser and he's pretty much an authority on the modern LED's.

You can read his post about it at the end of this thread:

Nah, if he says that a plasma he's wrong, thats a true led display, the case maybe a bit cheapo but the display looks excellent.

Plasma? :D

Guys stop smoking joints for breakfast! Its a bloody dot-matrix LED display, but I like the yellow one. For the case I think its one of the cheapest copies of a 70s watch I've ever seen. Okay, there's other cheap counterfeits but I really dont wanna upset anyone here. :)

Hi, Actually not a plasma (I don't know of any plasma watch), it' a dot LED display in the shape of a numerical digits. There have been a few of this type before, similar ones include the Zeon/Ted Baker dot matrix LED and there are a bunch of companies working on new ones right now but most of the modules come from the same source (I have been involved in the development of this particular one) and we are also working on some of these dot matrix display watches in addition to the genuine 70s type wire bonded ones which we are curently selling. Many Thanks! Simon

My mistake, I thought I read you mentioning it was plasma in reply to the other guy saying it was wire bonded.. I have no idea where I got that from. "PCB mounted dot display" is what I should have put.

I just got one of the "yellow" led watches from space:time.
I really like it.
My display looks more like orange than yellow.
It reminds me of a scoreboard display.
It's very bright and easy to read, and quite unique.
I haven't tried it in direct sunlight yet.
For me, the only question remaining is whether it will last a few years.

I just checked (at a little after noon), and this yellow LED watch is indeed legible even in direct sunlight.

Hello, yes the LED display will stay on if you hold down the button. Please understand that doing so would cause rapid battery drain.
