Post06 Oct 2005, 17:37

Does anyone have one of these?

How well do they work?

The one I'm looking at is at:

Definitely no LED watch, but I got one. Works well, but it will never be a match for a professional walkie talkie. I used it in some airsoft matches recently, but a real walkie talkie has better power and squelch. Its a nice gadget and it works, but it cant replace a professional one.

Got mine from Lidl, a german supermarket.

Was around 50 US-$ for a set of two. Nice decoration piece, but definitely of no use in the field. You will just wish you had a real walkie talkie.

I somewhat disagree I have a pair of the Xact watches and mine work quite well, we use them for hunting, camping and all kinds of things. Course I live in the boonies where they seem to work better than in cities.

I have had 2 different wrist radio watches and both were working "well", but compared to a professional radio they were just toys.

From Handling over reception to range I was very disappointed with both versions. If you have the choice between a "real" radio and these watches, then stick to the real thing. Although I do love gadget watches I think you should not buy these to expect a superb radio.
