these were made for fun in a total of 35 back in 2002.
based on Jeff's Thomas project another nerd Dave Forbes created a modern nixie watch that is available occasionally at his website Cathode Corner.
very limited numbers made. click picture to read more.

Nixie Wristwatch !!!! <<<LOOK>>>

Post02 Feb 2011, 02:23

I have one of the original 4-tube Nixie wristwatches. My letter says that only 20 of them were assembled, so the rest of them were sold as "kits". I bought a fully assembled one, and it is awesome !!! (Ser # 022)

Also included with my Nixie Watch is a letter from the designer, freebatteries, a tool to open the case, a circuit board (ready to be populated) and a schematic diagram of the watch from Resonant Instruments LLC !!

Let me know what you all think

Thanks for the watch Jeff (nixie-san), as you can see... I still love it. This battery swap operation was performed TODAY Feb 1, 2011.

... and yes.... I have swapped the same Krusty sticker to every new battery change for the last 9/10 years,

Now help please help me out with a quick question :-)

Why does the AA battery voltage read over 3V when I take them out of the watch ?

Keep the faith,
Dennis

Does anyone still make 4 tube watches?

I don't think so, the only other one that I know of is Jeff's 'Nixie 2' project, as discussed in this thread.

Dennis, are you saying the 1.5v AA Alkaline cell for the HVPS reads 3V?

Yes Jeff! Beleive it or not it's the AA that has 3V - weird huh ?

Could it be an AA-sized Lithium backup-battery (LS14500 type) instead of an Alkaline cell? Or maybe your DMM is defective....

I let a few component and fabrication CNC machining issues slow me up, and then months passed.
This is one that has to be completed before spring. I can't screw off any longer.

I am sure it will be worth the wait :-D

What year do the B4998 tubes date from? I had a trawl on the net which suggests 1969?

I came across a link to an old eBay auction for 9 of these tubes whilst browsing, sold November 2010, wished I'd of seen them before the end of the listing.
