Nixon Dork - anyone tried one?

Nixon Dork:This talking digital is cool(above), but Nixon also has them in a few different jump hours(Rotolog) with wood and bamboo inlays- even the band has panels of the material on it. Now THAT's a retro look - a "woody watch" to go with your "woody wagon"(U.S. slang for a station wagon with a wood-look panel on the sides.) 8)

Shame that their movements are only warrentied for a year...no claims of even a single jewel. :(

Check a few different online retailers if interested...your $$ milage can vary greatly!

I saw someone wearing the Rotolog recently. I was pleasantly supprised about how it looked when actually being worn. I wasn't a huge fan when I first saw them, and did have a bit of a concern that it might be the classic - unique design in the shop, but not so good on the wrist - syndrome. I take back my reservations about its style. It does look good :)

Hi,
I have a Dork which is a nice watch but it's worse than the worst led watch for energy consumption!
The 3v battery last 2-3 months , they even provide an extra battery when bought new!
The downside is the sharp angles don't allow you to cross your arms.
It's not a led watch , in the dark you can't see anything that why its talking!
The rotolog is nice , I think I'll ask father christmasif he can drop one in my chimney.

Yep I saw a rotolog in a surf shop on holiday. It looks very nice in the flesh. I was tempted but had better things to spend my cash on though. Ice creams, food, beer etc etc

Earlier DORK discussion: http://dwf.nu/viewtopic.php?t=302
Yes, it IS a battery eater, see here. But it can be improved. The problem is the poor efficiency of its voltage converter (5V step-up). Replacing it with a MAX1724 doubles battery life. And with a little rework on the battery lid you can use CR2032 cells instead of CR2025. So you can get about 8 months. Still not very impressive...

i bought my Nixon the Dictator in the same time. Like you said..bad quality but a must have for my collection :-D

it also comes with a few in advanced recorded voice of Tony Hawk etc. So i think it must be the same module with 3 spaces for recordings.

this one is also quite nice, the circuitry must look similar but the layout will be different.
