Hughes quartz replacement

Post20 Feb 2007, 19:37

Hi lads,

How easy is it to change the quartz crystal on the 29mm Hughes module.

I had a look at a dead one but it doesn't seem as straight forward a job as a NS module which I've changed plenty.

The module worked perfect keeping time and all but after a difficult removal from the donor case it now just shows a single digit. I ended up using a centre punch and a light hammer to remove the back which I think has shocked the crystal into the grave...

Hmmm, not easier than with most other modules...

If you're experienced and have changed some quartz before, then this is easy. Hope you are sure its the quartz, maybe you have seen higgies module oscillator tester, this seems to be a usefull tool.

He's probably not lending it, but maybe he can give you advise on how to build a similar device...
