Armitron Battery Type

Post02 Jun 2007, 18:48

Guys,

I picked up a nice Armitorn watch today but it seems to take huge batteries does anyone know which type it needs. The battery holders are 15.5mm in diameter and 4.5mm deep I had to make up a pair of battery adaptors Pulsar style for 386 cells to get it working.

Here's a 386 cell in one of the battery holders ckeck out the difference in size...

Hi Klippie,

I believe that this module used the old #355 batteries originally. From what I have learned from retroleds some of the old Armitrons used the same module as the old Saturn watches did. You can use the Pulsar style spacers with the #357 batteries also I believe. It is a bit larger than the #386 and might or should last a bit longer.

I am sure that more knowledgeable folks will be able to help with this.

yep, that one takes the good old 355's which are no longer made for more than 15 years. there are still some batteries available with the same diameter but are thicker and might crush the PCB when the caseback would be closed.

It looks like a LR9 is the closest to fitting but as Azimuth mentioned its very slightly thicker so I'll play it safe and keep the battery adaptors installed for the 386 batteries.
