Care of O rings

Post08 Aug 2007, 19:52

Some watches have an "O" ring - any hints on keeping these things in working order. I've heard that silicon sprays can be used and Geoff767 stated in one post that he left one in liquid silicon for a week. Any recommendations. I'm just thinking that it might be good practice to remove the ring and give it a lube whenever the batteries need to be changed and I'm specifically interested in Pulsar/Omega rings but i bet any advice give would be applicable to an digi with an "o".

I use silicon grease (on my modern LCDs), this also prevents the O-ring from sticking to the case.

I would recommend replacing them with new items and then applying silicone grease.

Hellerine oil - http://www.rapidonline.com/productinfo. ... leno=62477 - is excellent on all o-seals and rubber joints its not as messy as silicone grease it also works great to lubricate buttons once they've been de-greased with alcohol.

I've used this for years its one of those how have I ever managed without it products... :-D
