restoring a CFX-200

Post30 Apr 2012, 23:58

ciao a tutti,
I have recently restored a CFX-200.
It came in a lot of two pieces and I wanted to keep the second one
as a donor for some spare parts, you never know ...

However, I had seen that with the battery inserted, when pushing the buttons
it was working more or less.

Then I have completely dissambled the module and I have find out that two components
were broken (module is the on on the left)

Later I have purchased a non working CD-401, both for the case and for the buttons,
that were missing on my CFX-220. The CD-401 had also the display broken and is the
module pictured on the right.

Now the question is, can I use the trimmer and the other component from the CD401
in order to fix the CFX ?

Thanks again Alberto

It works !! But ... if you look at the top part of the lcd, you will notice
that the day of the week and calendar are not showing up.

This has been fixed by inserting a thin strip of paper between the back part of the plastic case
and the metal shield that keeps the two plastic parts of the case together, in order to
increase the pressure and insure proper contatcs between the LCD and the
upper Zebra connector.

The bracelet will be cleaned later, and if a better case/keyboards will be
available it will be swapped.

Actually, both the bottom and the top keys are coming from the CD-401.

Take care, and thanks for reading

Very skilled soldering! :-D You must have a very steady hand. I used the thin strip of paper trick on my Seiko M159. I used a strip of thin insulating tape.
