0624 strange behavior, help needed

Post28 Oct 2012, 20:11

Dear All,

I'm restoring a 0624, lcd works fine, module behave crazy ...
When a battery is inserted, it lights up, but stay stuck on the shown hour.
If I keep my fingers touching the module or very close to the module, it will stay on, although locked on that number
If I move the hand away, in four, five seconds it will fade out.
I think it uses my body static charge somehow.

I have also tried desoldering the quartz submodule replacing it with a similar one, you can see the picture
with the quartz and the battery contact sub-module removed, but nothing, same behavior.

In the process, I have alsoreplaced the two small capacitors, with no improvment ...

What can I do, other than buy a NOS module in order to have it running ?

Thanks in advance for any help, Alberto

i have 2 watches with the same problem...and i still have no idea what the problem is..so i think it's the processor? And that is not recoverable.
