200x Zoom newest addition to nerd lab

Post09 Feb 2013, 05:27

Hi Guys,

It's no filters Friday so that means it's lab nite !!

Found this while cleaning out the kids room - a eye clops that has a video output. (think 200x zoom) We purchased this on clearance for $25 USD for the kids a few years back and never used it. It's got a focus ring as well. Hooked it up to an extra 19" flat panel with composite (video) input.

Viola - now it's a high tech module inspection scope and the latest addition to "the nerd lab"

A few photos for playing with it for triage of dead modules.

1. Looking at wire bounds to display digits without removing the "bubble".
2. This module has seen better days (looks like a battery leak) broken traces, no wonder it didn't work. Get out the silver pen.
3. Checking a driver's connection to the SMD pad.

The fun never ends on a Friday night. Time to look into cheap USB microscopes.

Now where's my notes on that ultrasonic bat listening device for modifications to use for passive crystal testing
