Multimeter recommendations please

Post10 Mar 2014, 06:11

Hi, can anyone recommend some good brands and models of multimeter for diagnostics on LCD watches?

An old TI LCD just died for no apparent reason when the battery went out. A prompt battery change didnt do the trick. Its not an expensive or particularly rare watch but I just hate when the crystals go out and I dont know why!

I've got one of these to test quartz crystals, loosen up old analog quartz movements, etc.
Type in ebay search 290865438546

And a general purpose multi meter for measuring battery voltages, track on circuits, resistance etc. Something like this is good enough, cheap not crappy.

It's alive! I stored the watch, inserted with a new Renata and enclosed in a sealed bag with silica gel as I waited for the ordered tools to arrive. A few days later and it's revived itself. Always worth popping a battery in and have a wait/see I guess
