Seiko 0439 5007 display is flashing/blinking

Post06 Nov 2014, 18:21

Hi,
the display of my 0439 has recently started flashing. I already looked at the "technical guide" but this error wasn't mentioned.
I tryed a new battery and it's still blinking. Then I disassembled the panel, cleaned the contacts etc...
What can it be? Does anybody have an idea? Maye even to fix it?

I uploaded a video so you can see for yourselfs...

Did you try to leave the battery out for a week, looks like it stays in settings mode.

I agree with Kaspar. I'd also try:

Check the battery with a voltmeter (new batteries aren't always "new")
Check all of the buttons are making correct "on" "off" contact with the module (if ones "on" all the time it will mess things up - likewise if the setting button isn't making contact).
Check for oxidation on the module shorting out the setting circuit

Lovely watch - hope you can get it sorted.
