Seiko Bond 007 in trouble.

Post24 Nov 2014, 00:00

I recentrly got the seiko g757 bond watch.

I pop a new battery in and all things is working fine..but after a few minutes i loose some digits (second picture) and not much later whole screen blanc

I open her up and clean everything, and everything looks good.

But still the same problem.
First i think it's a short with the piezo speaker..so i tried it with another....same problem
Image

In the beginning it works fine but troubles start after a few minutes

the whole cycle of getting the module out the case..waiting a bit and giving back pressure on the battery to start it up, goes with longer periods of working.

first time 1 minutes then digits gone, second time 10 minutes and then digits gone, now it's stays on for over 1 hour but then again digits gone.
Is it a short? or .....? i just can not find the answer...it always resets and start after getting the battery loose for a sec.
The light always keeps working, even with no digits.

Shoot :-D

I should have a circuit replacement in my spares...but i don't know if it works...
If you want i can send it so you can test it...
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way

I was waiting for that question :-D .

After cleaning the whole circuitboard for a second time and checking everything. I could not find anything that causes the problem. So it had to be a voltage problem cause it was loosing the digits in parts or all over the display. So i put a small
extra metal disk between the battery and the circuitboard so i was sure it made a good contact. And yep....running for 24 hours now without a glitch. lucky me :-D

btw can anyone tell me why they call this model a bond watch.... i cannot find this watch in any Bond movie?

Its the G757-5020 sports 100 'horseshoe' that is in the the Octopussy movie Kasper. Yours uses the same G757 calibre, thats the only Bond link

Think its Octopussy starring the crappiest of all Bonds-bar none, Roger Moore. James Bond is meant to have an air of menace, make you feel he just MIGHT kill You, Connery had it and so does Daniel Craig. But after a couple of lagers, i'd happily wack Moore in the eyebrow :Prost:

This is incorrect. Roger Moore is clearly the best Bond ever. To quote Alan Partridge "no-one else could wear a safari suit with the same degree of casuality". Certainly not the 'lesser 007s' mentioned above :grin1: .
