Etic polytest 340.578 anyone else have one?

Post16 Feb 2018, 18:08

Anyone else use one of these. Im a bit stuck . I just picked up an etic polytest 340.587 from the bay thinking it might be really useful. The manual is here but its not great. I thought I could just place a watch on top and it might give me some answers without opening it up. Mine doesnt. It lights up and beeps randomly when touching the adjusting knob. It does recognise when I put a working quartz on it but thats about it. Digitals I get nothing. Am I expecting too much or do I have a dud?

I have one of these- it is only for 32768HZ analog quartz watches with a stepper coil type movement. They are pretty much useless for anything else (cannot "hear" a digital watch). And they are very badly made- I have had mine apart many times to clean the copper foil battery contacts, resolder components (not easy as the circuit is part encapsulated in black gooey resin) and replace the pickup choke component.

Thanks Tom.

If its working correctly what should I actually be able to do with the watch just placed on the unit without using the probes?

many thanks
