Testing alarm functionality

Post19 Aug 2018, 22:48

How can you test the alarm is working on an LCD watch (besides the obvious...is it making a beep ;) ) -- in that is the module sending a signal to the piezo speaker?

Do you trigger the alarm to go off then test for resistance between the alarm spring and ground, or the alarm spring and 1.5v positive, or some other method?

Or do you trigger the alarm and test resistance on the upconverter coil (in circuit?)

Also, has anyone replaced a glued-in piezo speaker? Do you need to use conductive adhesive to glue it? and for those piezos that mount directly to the case, instead of their own metal backing, do you put adhesive on the whole piezo or just around the edges?

Many thanks!
