Some of the Fossils will fit in some Fairchild cases but depth is a problem.

New module, old case.

Maybe the newer ones, but the 2000 series(actually released between 1999-2000) have actual wire bonded LEDs, albiet they have the magnifiers over the digits, giving a slightly "pop-eyed" look. I have two that I have been really happy with, despite having few features and using a seperate button for time and date. Maybe I just like them because they were super cheap :lol:

I didn't know there were newer ones. Do you know if they're making them now or are they just newer than the 1999-2000 models? I didn't like the ones I saw (I think they were the original early ones) because the segments were so thin, the magnifier actually distorted them and they weren't bright enough. To me they were very dissapointing. I was expecting much better after 20+ years of technological advancement.

The Fossil arent made for tech advancement, they are rather trying to bring back that vintage style. The bubble magnifier displays are technically the same as used in the late 70s.

technically perhaps, but not qualitatively.
