Mirror mirror on the wall who is ...... [many pics]

Post31 May 2012, 21:13

Yes, you all know it..i love challenges. :-D

Do whatever you want with this one...hmmm..let's first check the merchandise

a simpel but clean ledwatch that needs new glass

Image
Image

red glass would be to easy..lets do a special one.
Maybe a bubble glass to blow up the digits...no the hours digits only go to 12, not to 24 ...so i miss the balance of the view.

Image

but this watch is to clean..lets make it even cleaner and cooler :O`~
Let's do a crazy mirror watch.
DA MAN himself M:)W:)M

Image

ok...the glass is to big so we have to cut it in 2

Image

i need the rim to make the mall..it a very flexible rim so i have to do it all by hand. Cut out the mall from a old
plastified bankcard. :-)

Image
Image
Image

then the hard part..sanding till the mall is perfect..all by hand offcourse.

Image

When i'm satisfied, it's time to cut the glass..this time i do it with my machine and not by hand.

Image

result

Image

we are not home yet..i want it to be as clean as possible so i leave the plastic rim out...i used a curved glass just to
make it more special and cooler but now i have to try to keep the sides of the glass as flat as possible to the sides
of the watch. As you can see in the picture above.

Lets mark it and start grinding by hand.

Image
Image

ok that so much better

Image

but no...we not there yet :-D i said a want a clean looking watch. so i paint the side of the glass with silver and leave it to dry.

Image

the it's time to glue it with special Hypo cement..i hope it is strong enough and it will keep the glass in place.

Image

hmm looks ok..so i leave it one night to dry

Image
Image

THE RESULT is dammmnnnnn coooolll :O`~

i hope my friend will be satified :-D

Wow,

Forgive my lack of optics Kasper, but does the mirror allow for better visibilities during the daylight? As we all know, it is virtually impossible to see an LED's segments during the broad sunlight.

Anyway, I like you frames showroon in your business, pretty professional, but I am sure you are a wild optician!

Kasper,

Wow - you took a nice, perfectly respectable but not terribly exciting watch and turned into an awesome Terminator Watch. Nice job - brilliantly conceived and executed.

Top work again Kasper.
Reflecting the church outside your window in the face of the watch was a nice touch !

What I reward most is the craft you need to perform this work. It´s just great to see this EX-Klaiber (?) with a new face.

The watch is not branded, it looks like one of the cheaper generic Japanese brands that came out in the late 70s, it does have a similar shape to the Klaiber but that is really as far as the likeness goes, the Klaiber has a much better, more substantial build quality.

Kasper has really worked his magic on this one turning a uninspiring watch with a broken crystal into a super funky time piece. :-D

Definitely cool! The mirrored glass looks like it was born to fit that watch perfectly. Looks like something out from a sci-fi movie! 8-)
