I know, some of you will find my avatar watch "fugly" - my wife calls it my "Bladerunner" watch. I was piecing together Bulova drivers, putting best glass with best cases, etc., and came to the realization that I had a few three part displays without a decent case to put them in, and a few perfect glasses except the logo was missing. This guy got a 80 grit sandblasted finish, mottled black & brown patina and a flat epoxy coating. The glass was first polished and then glass bead blasted to take away the glossy shine.
I'd like to do an article that could become a running or sporatic feature at
www.thedigitalwatch.com, showing how YOU have "pimped" or otherwise altered a watch to match your style. Mismatched parts, funky finishes, great plating jobs. Come'on, show me how you "PIMPED YOUR WATCH"!!
USA readers will recognize I have played on a popular MTV show here, "Pimp My Ride", where a team of auto "designers" changes finished, fabrics, etc. to turn ordinary cars into one's that reflect the owner's personality.
