Maybe this belonged to a sewer rat?

The clean-up effort begins :-?

Oh my. I'm frequently amazed at how grungy, dirty, and generally mistreated many formerly beautiful high end watches end up, particularly on the 'Bay.

This one should win some sort of award.

Thankfully, they often clean up nicely. Make sure to take "before" and "after" photos!

I reckon you're right.........it was probably used for diving, and not washed down afterwards.
Any signs of life ?

I think this is one of the rare occasions when the outer crud is of no detriment to the condition of the workings, the Lexan case will have provided a nice protective shield so fingers crossed it will just require a fresh set of batteries.

Holy cow! That Synchronar was dirtier than an abandoned house!
Looks way better after the cleaning, it also seems to not have a lot of scratches, apart from the ones I see on the Lexan top. Fingers crossed for you Benrus, hope it'll work with new batteries. Otherwise, a SASM module can do the job. :-)

Wow ,what a pity that it is as bad on the inside as it was on the outside.
The rechargeable battery leaked ? , i thought the seals of those supposed to be better than those of the regular batteries.

Isn't that the wrong case for the module? A Sunwatch case for the flat top modules rather than a Synchronar case with the bar across to fit in the groove?

I'm not sure why exactly they decided to make the Divemaster this way, but since it came that way, I'm trying to restore it the same.
The original black bar is super-glued to half of its lexon case as pictured above, so I need to make a new one.
If I'm at all wrong, please share what you know.
I think all divemasters were sold this way, they didn't come with flat sun tops...but I may be wrong.

All early Sunwatches were equipped with the Synchronar grooved module top with the black bar glued in place.
The flat module top was a later devlopment for Sunwatches which made it appear more 'designed' rather than being a case of just using up Synchronar cases where the centre bar was damaged during manufacture.

I've got a few NOS black bars lying around somewhere. Give me your address and I'll send you one.

Good Job Benrus.
The bar makes a real difference.
BTW, I really like that Sunwatch bracelet. I've got one the same on a Synchronar and it's the one that gets worn most. It looks good and is very comfortable.
