Lorus W029-6030 (with Seiko A829 module?)

Post04 Dec 2015, 20:33

Hi,

Together with some other vintage digital watches (that I may review later), I have recently acquired a Lorus W029-6030 watch which - from my viewpoint - looks very similar to the famous Seiko A829 "Astronaut" watch.
I know that Seiko owns the Lorus brand, but I kindly ask if someone may confirm that inside of this watch is the same Seiko A829 module, as the name (W)029 may suggest.
Because about Lorus W029 watch variant there is not very much information on the WWW.
Thanks in advance, and please see the pictures below:

Yes its the same as the Seiko model. I think also Helbros released some A829 model too.

Thanks Mr. Adam for Your kind confirmation. I was not sure if it is an original Seiko module or just a copy under licence from Seiko.
Also, while I was aware that Yema and Lorus (as Seiko's brands) have had watches with the same design as the stainless steel A827/A829 Seikos, I had no idea about the Helbros watch You've mentioned (it may be seen below in the photo). It looks almost identical with the plastic LORUS W029.
And probably as in the case of Lorus variant - being made of plastic - it seems that only few such Helbros watches have survived until now under "the test of time" :) and that may explain the lack of information about them on the WWW.
Anyway, if the module is the same as in the Seiko A829, they may be a valuable source of spare modules for the genuine A829-60xx Seiko watches.
Thanks again and best regards,
