Watch as/and/or jewelry

Post13 Jul 2011, 10:37

Ok.
We all have more watches than we need.
We all wear watches that are more than basic time on the wrist.
Thus we all wear watches partly as personal pleasure/statement/status/jewelry.

This non directly toolfuntional bit goes back some 4, probably more, thousand years when human social structures developed layers.
Personal objects had a role in communicating, symbolising social standing.
This continues to today.

Image

is a neat illustration imo.

This brings me to the next aspect.
We all have ´the itch´: Hence we have more watches than we need.
We all have a part hedonistic itch: Hence we have watches that cost more than a Casio F-91W.

Yes, I suffer from all of the above.
So, what do I do?
Every néxt acquisition has less satisfying effect than the previous one so...
Buy another watch?
Buy another torc?
Will that scratch the itch?

It is a bit of a pisser that modern society has outlawed like the sword like Yemeni still wear their jambia.
Ok, we have our car/motorbike, but that is in the parking lot. Not really personal attire.
We are only allowed one trophy wife too  and worse still, those have ´the right to meddle´ ;-)

So, what next???
Buy a gf Synchronar, a Snettisham torc, a ceremonial axe, get a lover, get a tattoo, get a bumper sticker, swallow anti-histamin and hope the itch is an allergic reaction, or have a beer and get it over with??!!

(Yes, I know I have personal messages to respond to).

I like all of those suggestions, on the materialistic side. I would add the ones that work temporarily for me:
a)New weapons - most recent is the 185lb(84kg) draw compound crossbow. Unfortunately strong beast, has blasted the bolt(crossbow arrow) entirely through the body of every rabbit I have hit with it, destroying the bolt and generally sinking so deep into the ground they are lost. Most enjoyable was getting the "fat bastard" woodchuck I have been pursing for a few years -technically a resident of my neighbor's property. He is dead as shit now!
b)Edged weapons of all sorts - knives, swords, battle axes.
c)Mentally postulating about the possibility of another "trophy wife". I generally dismiss the idea as impractical on many levels. The upkeep alone could kill you - just ask Hugh Hefner, poor jilted bastard. :x
d)Thinking about new powered toy, specifically a motorcycle. I've been shipping motorcycles to Europe for about the last 2.5 years, in partnership with one of our forum members. We've probably shipped 150 bikes, seems like I should own at least one. :-? And think of the gas I could save! Which leads to my last suggestions in one blast.
e)save the planet, give some time or money to charity, do something nice with your loved ones, spend time in prayer or meditation, or just drink that beer. Or smoke a joint. Or bang your trophy spouse. Whatever floats your boat. 8-)

 "Air is only important when you can't get any".

It's about the same for us here in Sunny Southern California. The big difference being the (almost non-existent) humidity... er, for us. For you all in MI.... well... (do we have an emoticon with frizzy hair?) At least you are keeping busy whittling away at the varmint population. And still working on some watch repair too?
All I can add to that is: :-D :-D :-D

Mid 40 C over here. Low humidity.
We eat on the front terrace under a huge parasol daily.
15 degree nights so we open windows at about midnight. Close them around 10 am.
Basically véry comfy if stay out of the direct sun from about 14.00 to 18.00.
It is the typical summer routine for about 3 months.

The problem remains unsolved.
Had big fun flirting though; good for the ego, scrathed the itch sómewhat.
When realistic I am rather spoiled and have nóthing to complain about. had to go to the hospital in Málaga yesterday; ragtop down, airco on in the sun.
So I decided to try behave like an adult and not give myself over to selfindulgement. Bought my loving wife a Baby-G I knew she would lóve so that was sort of Win-Win

Still pretty boring unfun though, behaving adult.

Btw. I was close to a tattoo shop of good fame, so was contemplating what I really should not when I walked passed a tattoo shop called ´Dementis´.
They even have a website; http://dementis-tattoo.com/
Still put me off the idea

My wife accuses me of being a flirt - I just don't see it that way, I'm just friendly and it occasionally confuses some woman.

So, we are watching TV the other night, and this guy is telling his son, "your momma always says she doesn't care where I get my appetite, as long as I eat at home." The wife turns to me and says, "you try that shit and I'll kick your ass." Nice to know she cares. When I am in a more jocular mood I usually respond with a favored line, "you can't cut me off, you don't know where I am getting it!"
OWWWWh - man she punches hard! Makeup sex!

My wife doesn´t.
She knows and enjoys that I have fun.
Vice versa.
No bridles there either.
We just make sure we serve the best food at home

See ´the reward´ on my site ;-)
