I use babelfish regularly for languages I don't understand at all, like Japanese. The result is usually quite entertaining and often good enough to "get the gist of it" - but not more.
Adding a babelfish translation to a site is quite easy as long as plain HTML is used for navigation: one can navigate inside the translation.
It does not seem to work with script-based navigation like it's used on ledwatches.net
.
Want to browse the
DWF in German? Navigation works fine, but the result is by far more entertaining than comprehensible
Trying
TheDigitalWatch in German (only the menu doesn't work, but the links do), it's not worth any effort - IMHO.
Babelfish always seems to pick the wrong meaning of ambiguous words.
Example: "Post subject: : Ventura has gone bust!" is translated to "Pfostenthema: : Ventura hat gegangene Büste!"
Yes, "Pfosten" is "Post", but in the meaning of pole, pillar, stake...
And "has gone bust" is translated to something like "has a gone bosom"
Etc...
