Colours can be brighter than with a CCFL backlight, but that's all.
The real breakthrough would be a large OLED screen with no backlight at all - but please with min 20000h lifetime, no burn-in effects, less energy consumption than backlit displays, and all this at a comparable price.
Anyway, even then I will not want a TV, so why bother at all

Why bother? I don't watch much TV either (less than 2 hrs. a week ) but both my monitors(dual monitor setup) have built-in TV tuners and all the available input flavors. Just in case ...like for ripping VHS and DVD material and keeping an eye on the forum. With so many monitors having digital TV tuners(or so many TVs having ability to connect effortlessly to your PC), kind of blurs the line
