London Science Museum, Solidev LED Watch.

Post27 Oct 2009, 21:15

I've just enjoyed a long weekend break at London, whilst there I visited the Science Museum and had an interesting browse through the 'Measuring Time' exhibition, the exhibits on display included a 'Avia' early LCD, a Zenith Futur and also a LED watch which was labeled as a 'Solidev,' made in New York, Circa 1971, it had two command buttons at 2 and 4 o'clock and a set at 3 o'clock.

I have not heard of Solidev but I do think they are way off with the date, it's obviously not 1971, my guess would be more circa 1975, can anyone be more specific or provide more information?

You don't happen to have a photo?
Did it look like anything known?

It looked similar to this Uranus and had the same button layout, although it was behind a glass display case and I wasn't able to see anything of the module, any connection between Uranus and Solidev or New York?

No just the ones mentioned, although it was a good exhibition with loads of other wristwatches, pocket watches and clocks from the very early years; well worth a look if your down that neck of the woods. I didn't have as much time as I would of liked to have a good look around, it was towards the end of the day and the kids where getting fed up and pestering to go elsewhere.

BTW: I have been informed that Solidev could be an off shoot of Florida based Solitron Devices Inc.
