In the last few weeks I saw prices for some TI LED calculators almost reach HP level...
For example three SR-51 sold for
#1 US$227 (cosmetically far from perfect),
#2 US$282, and
#3 US$350 (ok, boxed and complete). Until a year ago the first two would have fetched $80~120. Let's see where
#4 will go.
And now
this: two leaking BP-1A battery packs for US$100
You can (still) get the fitting calculators for a few bucks WITH the battery pack (I have about 10 of them, none cost more than 10€). A year ago somone offered a BP-1A at $10 starting price and didn't even get bids.
Any idea what's going on here? Is TI becoming popular among collectors like HP has been for a long time? Was there a TV show or something that triggered this sudden interest? Are HP collectors now diverting to TI because HPs have become too expensive, or they have their collection complete?
