HP-01 On Storage Wars.

Post18 Aug 2014, 13:42

Anyone see the HP-01 on 'Storage Wars'?

It was a nice looking GF version, no boxes just the watch, their expert gave it a valuation of around $1,300 in full working condition, which seems about right to me! Not a bad find for them as the unit only cost them $300.

BTW: Anyone else think Brandi is hot and Jarrod is a lucky man?

Guy Ball, the 'guy' they visited is an author on many levels. He had a HUGE collection of vintage calculators, I mean HUGE. Enough to write a collectors guide.

I was lucky enough to meet him and have drinks. Got to see most of his collection. He is the publisher of my book, when it is ready.

They went to the expert as he is also a fan of HP vintage calcs and has published many versions of the book 'A guide to HP HANDHELDS AND COMPUTERS" written by a friend.

When I dropped by he had a box of NOS Hughes cases left and a couple of NOS hp 01's.

Oh that was Guy Balls was it! I have heard a lot of people speak highly of him.

It was nice to see an old LED watch given a bit of TV time.

I had a look to see if I could find a link to post, I couldn't find one but I did stumble across a reference to the below auction whilst trying, it's from last year but the description is still very funny and well worth a read!

Dunno, Peter from Germany would fit but I suppose it could quite easily be someone else.

There are lots of Peters in Germany. I doubt Mr Wenzig lacks a manual given the depth of his collection and he is a rather nice guy so can't imagine he'd excite anyone like that

Although Dr Wenzig is a nice chap it does not rule out the possibility that the 'excitable' one is the seller rather than the person the message is directed at. Dr Wenzig's depth of collection especially as a seller can only be maintained by regular additions, so it would be quite feasible for him to make an enquiry about postage for an item such as this.

I do appreciate a sense of humour so I viewed the message as if it was written with 'tongue in cheek' however it could also be viewed as a cowardly attack against someone who would not have any opportunity for reply.. .. .. .. .. .. It would of been better written minus the name in my opinion.

To me it looks like he's a very frustrated person, and not very likeable, but maybe i'm wrong

I wish I'd seen that listing while it was active.

I would have messaged him asking if he posts to Germany :grin1:

Yeah I think I would'av also asked " So you wouldn't ship to me in the UK then?"

(Just to see if we could get his head to burst)

I would have also pointed out that he missed the L from the middle of his Ebay name. IMHO. :ironie:
